Dr Jean Turner is a retired GP from Glasgow. In the 2003 elections for the Scottish Parliament she stood as independent in protest against what she judged to be poorly planned changes in local health provision, and in particular the planned closure of her local hospital.
She won in a traditional staunch Labour constituency, and has now announced that she will be standing for re-election in the May 2007 Scottish election.
